Get To Know Me

Ryan’s interest in design began early, often pointing out unique buildings on the drive home and sketching out floor plans. In high school, a paper she wrote on color theory sparked her curiosity about how spaces can unconsciously impact people. That interest helped her to study Interior Architecture and Design at Kirkwood Community College. In her final semester, a course in Green Construction Sciences introduced her to sustainable practices and inspired a new design passion. Through that course, Ryan also earned her LEED Green Associate credential.

Ryan draws inspiration from midcentury and prairie-style architecture, appreciating their warm, earthy elements and strong connection to the outdoors. She values designs that feel alive and push boundaries, creating spaces that feel intentional and enduring. Her approach reflects a belief that thoughtful design can shape meaningful experiences and foster a deeper connection between people and their environment.

Outside of the studio, Ryan loves to travel and experience new places and spaces. She is a music enthusiast, avid reader, and green thumb. She also enjoys volunteering with the GSEIWI outdoors program where she gets to help girls challenge themselves in unique environments, whether 30 feet in the air or from the back of a horse. Ryan first joined Form Function Studio as a design intern and quickly fell in love with the impact she could make within a collaborative, tight-knit team. Her favorite way to build connections is through shared experiences, whether working side by side on a project or creating opportunities for others to grow and thrive.

Fun Fact

Ryan spent three weeks in Italy on a study abroad the summer after she graduated college. While abroad, she studied Roman architecture and the way it was impacted by the arts as they visited 19 cities and 3 countries!
