Jordan Creek Church - Concept 01
Religious Building Concept | 34,500 SqFt
Solon, Iowa
Jordan Creek Church is a flexible, multi‑generational worship facility envisioned to support a rapidly growing congregation in Solon, Iowa. Designed with long‑term adaptability in mind, the concept blends efficient construction methods, a clear architectural parti, and intentional spatial organization to create a building that will evolve alongside both the church and the community it serves.
Facing significant population growth, the church sought a permanent home that could expand over time while remaining cost‑effective and aligned with its values. The design employs a pre‑engineered metal building system to create large, uninterrupted interior volumes. The building is organized around three core components—Worship, Gather, and Fuse (Kids Ministry)—with the central Gathering space acting as the hub from which present and future expansions can occur logically and efficiently.
Architecturally, the church draws from its agrarian surroundings, using a simple, pure building form carved into inviting spaces that frame views of the landscape. A dark masonry base grounds the structure, while a white standing‑seam metal façade and roof provide a light, contemporary expression. Large, glazed openings function as portals that connect interior activity to the outdoors and invite passersby to engage. The design further emphasizes durability, practicality, and warmth through honest materials, natural light, and low‑maintenance finishes.
For Jordan Creek Church, the concept provides clarity, confidence, and a roadmap for phased growth—enabling the congregation to expand its ministry, strengthen community connection, and shape a lasting spiritual anchor for future generations. The design translates the church’s mission into built form: simple, adaptable, welcoming, and rooted in faith.
