Situated in the MedQ District, Carson Wealth invested in an aging medical office to solve their company growth needs. Creating a vibrant place to attract and retain top talent to Cedar Rapids was mission critical. The design focuses on efficient use of existing rooms and walls, optimized circulation, a curated design aesthetic, and an elevated client experience & employee workspace. Maximizing the entry and reception space to warmly welcome all users became the foundational move. Within the space, timeless, honest materials and well-crafted details create a strong yet approachable presence. Surrounding the reception are a series of flexible meeting spaces, transitioning to advisor offices that were reimagined from existing exam rooms. The “Walnut Cube,” a programmed filled space of restrooms, admin support, and an intimate meeting space allow for an elegant transition between the public and private areas of the office. The design solution exemplifies the practice of how an aging building can become rejuvenated into a new future.
